Cliff Ruggles has more than 20 years' experiene in custom building transmissions. He owns his own business, Cliff's High Performance, which specializes in building high-performance engines, transmission, and carburetors. Cliff has built/ owned/ raced at least half a dozen cars over the years.

Great Workbench Addition

The GM Turbo 350 followed the famous Power Glide transmissions of our youth. Transmissions are an area that slight improvements grant large benefits in performance. Even if it is something as simple as adding a shift kit. In this book they chose the author well. Mr. Ruggles takes his three decades of experience working on transmissions and creates a book that anyone would be happy to have on their workbench. Yes even the beginner.
The book does not assume anything. The author even starts with explaining what tools are needed. Transmissions make people nervous because of all their parts but they are not that hard to work on. And with this book you will be able to do just that. The writing is clear and concise. Plus well documented with accompanying photographs that are very useful. If you wish to rebuild or fix your Turbo 350 transmission this is a must have book that you will cherish.

Lots of good info !!!

The book was delivered on time and in new condition. The price of the book was very reasonable compared to all the information it contained. I am the process of rebuilding a big block motor so I thought I would attempt the transmission next. I have never tore into a transmission before but after reading thru the book I think I will have enough info to complete the rebuild of my transmission. There are special tools that you need to help with
the tear down and assembly of your transmission so I was a little irritated that no specs were given to help build your tools. As a toolmaker in the skilled trades I can figure out what I need to build fixtures and jigs. There is a bunch of info on the web for tool design for spring compressors so it takes a little bit of research to find the right one. I will reevaluate this book once I complete my rebuild on my transmission.

This manual goes much deeper into detail of installation. It is also a great manual for modifying your transmission. With or without having to buy kits or parts; just little tweeks with basic tools go a long way!
